Brighton & Hove Albion are still in the mix to sign Davide Frattesi after failing to sign the Sassuolo player in January.
Towards the end of last year, reports coming out of Italy explained the Seagulls have a ‘strong’ interest in the midfielder.
It was also stated Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi was keen to have the 23-year-old at The Amex in the winter market, but no deal took shape.
The Italy international is still at Sassuolo but that could change at the end of this season. The Premier League side continue to look at Frattesi, if a report from Italy is to be believed.
Experienced journalist Ciro Venerato claims Brighton will provide competition to Serie A clubs to sign Frattesi in the summer. He said this while discussing Napoli’s interest in the player during Tele A’s Terzo Tempo.
“From Napoli, they tell me Frattesi has different characteristics from all the midfielders that make up the squad available to coach Luciano Spalletti. However, I believe that, if he arrives, another would go away. I’m thinking of one between Zielinski and Ndombele or both.
“There have already been talks with the player’s [Frattesi’s] agent, Giuseppe Riso. But the agent also spoke with other clubs.”
Venerato doesn’t specify if the Sassuolo player’s agent has held talks with Brighton. Either way, with De Zerbi’s side in the mix, they could be given a new opportunity to try to sign Frattesi in the summer.
