Leicester City are keen on signing Feyenoord’s Calvin Stengs this summer.
That’s according to De Telegraaf, and they report the Foxes and Pisa SC both want to take the 26-year-old away from Feyenoord.
It’s claimed Leicester and the Italian club visited De Kuip [Feyenoord’s home stadium] to express their concrete interest in Stengs.
Two different injuries limited his playing time to 797 minutes from 16 games last season. He’s been fit this season but is yet to make an appearance for the Dutch club.
According to the report, the attacking midfielder no longer has the assurances of being a starter for Feyenoord. Stengs isn’t willing to settle for a backup role and aims for a fresh start elsewhere.
De Telegraaf points out Celtic earlier showed up but didn’t formally register their interest. This has allowed the Foxes and Pisa to try and sign him in this window. Martí Cifuentes’s side have a firm interest in bringing the Netherlands international to the Championship.
According to the report, Feyenoord hope to do serious business with Leicester and Pisa to transfer the Dutchman. There’s no mention of Stengs’ preference between the Foxes and Pisa.
