Brentford narrowly missed out on qualifying for Europe after finishing ninth, two points behind seventh placed Aston Villa, last season.
In order to climb higher in the table, the Bees are planning to bolster their squad and have set their sights on KRC Genk star Mike Trésor.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who state the winger is a ‘priority’ target for Brentford to strengthen their attack.
The Belgium international starred for the Jupiler Pro League side last season, scoring eight goals and registering 24 assists from 42 games. This has drawn attention from the English club.
Although he has a contract until 2025, it’s claimed Trésor ‘wants to play’ in the Premier League next season.
This could be possible because the report states the negotiations between Thomas Frank’s side and Genk are ‘progressing well’, so much so that the English club are optimistic of closing the deal for the player in the next few days.
Foot Mercato make no mention of the fee Brentford intend to pay or what Genk have asked for to part ways with Trésor in this window.
