A year ago, Anel Ahmedhodžić was linked to several clubs, including Chelsea, but was unable to get a move away from Malmö FF.
The defender could soon arrive in England, if Brentford manage to acquire his services in the winter market.
SportExpressen has a report on the 22-year-old, relayed by Fotbolltransfers, focusing on Thomas Frank’s side. It’s said the Bees have ‘intensively’ scouted the centre-back as they are ‘showing serious interest’ in him.
Prior to the Premier League side arriving on the scene for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international, Napoli and Atalanta showed ‘concrete interest’, but were unable to agree a deal with the Swedish club.
Brentford have now come forward for the player and ‘it is no secret’ he ‘can leave Malmö FF’ in January. With Frank’s side interested in Ahmedhodžić, the report states they could ‘place a bid’ for him in the winter market.
Ahmedhodžić has been a regular for his country since October 2020 and that could help him get a work permit to play in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Pontus Jansson’s current deal expires in 2022, and SportExpressen say Brentford are ‘likely’ to extend his contract, with the club having an option to do so.
