On January 10th, Gazzetta dello Sport reported Udinese believe Brentford’s request of €12m for Mads Roerslev to be unrealistic and they could only sign him on loan in the winter market.

A week later, we covered claims from Germany which stated VfL Wolfsburg have opened talks with the Bees to sign the right-back on a loan deal.

The Bundesliga side are keen on the Brentford player and WAZ provides the latest on the situation.

The 25-year-old has reached a verbal agreement with Wolfsburg over a move, and they now have to agree a deal with Brentford to close the operation.

WAZ say Wolfsburg wanted Roerslev last week, but Brentford refused to let him leave due to their fixtures against Manchester City and Liverpool.

According to the report, the German club are in talks with Thomas Frank’s side to sign the Denmark international on loan with an option to buy.

There’s no mention of how the negotiations between the clubs are progressing, but WAZ state the transfer could be ‘completed in the coming days’. This shows Wolfsburg remain optimistic of getting this operation over the line.
