Brentford forward Yoane Wissa has insisted he will not be seeking a move away in the January transfer window, despite struggling to be a first-team regular this season.

Wissa joined Brentford in a €10m deal from Lorient in August last year and made 34 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring ten goals and registering two assists.

He played largely a substitute role, though, featuring in the stating 11 just 12 times out of a possible 33.

That has continued this season, with Wissa again making 18 appearances in all competitions but only starting six of a possible 17 games so far.

It’s a frustrating position for the player to be in given he continues to contribute for Thomas Frank’s side, scoring three and registering one assist so far this season.

He may look to move on at some point in future to secure a starting role somewhere else but insists that is not in the pipeline for the time being.

“Everyone wants to play every game!” he told Onze Mondial.

“The most important thing is to be mentally strong to be able to claim playing time, after the coach makes his choices and has his team in mind.

“You have to make sure he sleeps a little badly at night (laughs)! We must continue to fight and respect everyone.

“No, for the moment, we are not there yet (a transfer away). We will see what happens next, but I feel good in Brentford.”
