Earlier this month, Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte broke the news about Bournemouth’s interest in Wesley, claiming the Cherries placed a €12m offer for him.
The bid was turned down by Flamengo, and it had recently been said that the English club could soon show up with a new attempt.
Now as Globo Esporte comes up with an update on the situation, they show that Bournemouth will have some more difficulty.
That’s because the fullback reportedly agreed to a new contract with Flamengo. His new deal will run until 2028, and that will include a €200m release clause.
Still, it’s said that Bournemouth are still interested and the negotiation continues. He was also targeted by other Premier League clubs and Barcelona recently.
We shall now wait and see if the Cherries will actually show up with a new attempt, as it’d be a little strange to see the player signing a new deal and then leaving Flamengo a few days later. Since he’s just 20 years old, perhaps the clubs can line something up for him to move to England next year.
