It seems AFC Bournemouth weren’t able to make a convincing bid for the signing of Sporting striker Youssef Chermiti.
According to newspaper Record, the Cherries recently approached the Lions to try a blow for the player.
It’s claimed Bournemouth’s offer did not match Sporting’s demands, which had been of €20m plus 20% of a future sale.
Record writes that the Lions are indeed currently closing the doors to exits, and are unlikely to give away any discounts for their promising players.
Bournemouth’s attempt to sign Chermiti didn’t come out of nowhere. Back on Tuesday, the Portuguese media had claimed that the Cherries were preparing a bid for the striker.
At the time, it was already said that Sporting’s demands would be of €20m plus 20% of a future sale. So the English side probably thought it was a bluff and tried to get a deal done for less.
For now, it’s unclear whether Bournemouth will be back for the striker, even though it seems clear how much it will take for an agreement.
Chermiti is having the pre-season normally with Sporting’s squad, and there’s big trust on his future at the club.
