Arsenal may have been handed a major boost in a potential pursuit of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi, as Bayern Munich consider him ‘too expensive’.
That’s according to Sky Germany, who state Arsenal are ‘showing interest’ in the midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.
They explain that the Spanish midfielder is still on Bayern’s list for the summer as they look for the defensive midfielder that the squad is currently lacking.
They believe he has a similar profile to Xabi Alonso, hence their interest, and Zubimendi is interested in the move if it is offered to him.
However, Real Sociedad are demanding €60m for their star man and that is ‘still too expensive’ for Bayern at this moment in time.
That could be a boost for Arsenal, who are also ‘showing interest’ in the 25-year-old as they continue to build under Mikel Arteta.
Indeed, recent reports have indicated that he is key to any move for the midfielder, with a report on the 18th of this month indicating as much and putting Arsenal in the front row for the midfielder.
Whether they’re willing to pay Sociedad’s asking price remains to be seen but the fact Bayern aren’t is at least a boost for the Gunners’ hopes.
