Birmingham City are set to complete a deal for Heracles Almelo winger Emil Hansson after agreeing a deal with the Dutch side.

That’s according to Expressen, who report that the 26-year-old Swede is set for an ‘unexpected move’ to Birmingham this summer.

They report that according to their information, which they’ve received from several independent sources, Birmingham have agreed a deal to buy him from Heracles in a deal worth just over SEK 20 million, around £1.49m.

The winger is now set to undergo a medical and if he passes that, and Expressen say all signs point to there being no issues in that medical, he is expected to be presented by Birmingham shortly.

The Blues are ‘betting big’ ahead of next season as they look to secure immediate promotion back to the Championship following relegation last season.

An overhaul of the squad is seemingly part of that plan and Hansson is set to be the latest addition after deals for Alfie May and Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The Swedish winger managed five goals and six assists in 25 games for Heracles Almelo last season and has 21 goals and 29 assists in 78 games for the club since joining them from Fortuna Sittard in January 2022.
