Aston Villa are likely to want as close to €13m as possible for defender Álex Moreno if they are to sell him this summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the full-back wants a return to the Spanish club but Aston Villa aren’t going to let him go on the cheap.
They explain that while Betis have already finalised a deal for Romain Perraud, they still want another left-back as Juan Miranda is set to depart.
They have a long list of options and Moreno is one of them, with his name coming to the fore recently when he was spotted at an airport alongside Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo.
They insisted after that the meeting was a coincidental one at best, but Estadio say the truth is that the player still has a great relationship with the Spanish club, and they’d like to have him back if they can.
The fact that Aston Villa are signing Ian Maatsen makes that more of a possibility as they’ll have three players in the position, but their asking price would be a problem.
The belief is they’ll want to recover as much of the €13m they paid for Moreno back and that’s too much for Betis at this moment in time.
The defender would also need to significantly reduce his wages to facilitate a return, although given his relationship with the club can now be described as a love affair at least, we’re sure that wouldn’t be a problem.
