Bayer Leverkusen are making moves to try and sign Emi Buendia from Aston Villa, to replace the injured Martin Terrier.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who reports that Leverkusen are exploring a loan deal for the Argentine midfielder.

According to his information, Leverkusen are considering make a loan offer with an option to buy included. Aston Villa aren’t interested in this and are instead demanding an obligation to buy be included in any loan deal.

Another unnamed club are also in the race for Buendia at this moment in time. Plettenberg doesn’t provide any hints on who that may be, though.

Instead, he says Leverkusen are making their efforts to sign Buendia after losing Terrier. He’s set to miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury.

That has left Xabi Alonso’s squad slightly short and it seems they want to potentially fill the gap with the signing of Buendia from Aston Villa.

It appears there’s a distinct gap between what they’re willing to do and what that Villans want, though, so these negotiations could rumble on for a while yet.
