After their success at the U21 Euro’s this summer, all the big clubs are keeping an eye on Spain’s latest crop of talent.
The likes of Dani Ceballos, Dani Olmo and Mikel Oyarzabal have attracted plenty of attention. Fabián Ruiz is another player earning rave reviews.
The Napoli midfielder was one of the stars of the tournament, and it seems that’s attracted the attention of Barcelona.
Mundo Deportivo report that sources close to the club have made it clear they are keen on signing the 23-year-old next summer.
Barça’s interest goes back to last season, with ‘first contacts’ made then, and has only increased as time has gone by, mainly after Éric Abidal went to watch him in Napoli’s clash with Lecce.
Ruiz knows he is a target for the Catalan giants, who are looking at him as part of a rejuvenation of their midfield.
Mundo’s sources have confirmed Barcelona are keeping track of the player, with previous scouting reports all coming back positive.
It’s stated that some players in Barcelona’s dressing room would look on a move for Ruiz favourably, although getting him out of Napoli is not likely to be easy.
The Serie A side have Ruiz signed to a deal until June 2023 and would seemingly want to make a big profit on the £30m they paid to sign him last summer.
