Last week, claims from the UK stated Liverpool had rejected a Barcelona approach for Luis Díaz.

The Catalan media insist Barcelona are calm, mainly because they are aware of the forward’s desire to join them.

Two days ago, Sport reported the 28-year-old has a verbal agreement with the Reds to let him leave if there’s an €80m bid. They also stated the Liverpool player has leaked this information to Barcelona, who are unwilling to match that price.

Thursday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports Díaz ‘will do his best’ to leave Liverpool for the La Liga winners this summer.

The Colombia international finished this season after his national team’s 1-1 draw against Argentina in the World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Mundo state the former FC Porto man will go on a vacation with his family, while ‘awaiting news about his future’. He’s only been thinking about joining Arne Slot’s side next season.

Díaz is aware this summer could be his last chance to secure a move to the Camp Nou.

The attacker is determined to join the Catalan club because he ‘doesn’t feel valued’ by the Premier League winners. This could be a tactic from Barcelona, via their local media, to try and get him out of Anfield.

Therefore, he put renewal negotiations with Liverpool on hold.

The Reds have made progress in their efforts to secure Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz for well over €130m.

Those close to Díaz feel the English champions will need funds and will facilitate his move this summer. Whether that’s actually the case remains to be seen.
