On Thursday, journalist Andrés Rolón reported FC Porto have an agreement in place with Julio Enciso and the move depends on them agreeing terms with Brighton & Hove Albion. He also stated the Premier League club have rejected Porto’s first offer.
The Paraguay international is on the front page of today’s O Jogo, showing how big a deal a transfer to Porto is being seen in Portugal.
According to O Jogo, Porto have contacted the Seagulls to negotiate for the 21-year-old’s transfer. His contract is until 2026 and the English club are ready to negotiate his sale this summer.
Brighton let Enciso spend the second half of this season on loan with Ipswich Town, and it’s not thought they see a key role for him.
Porto qualified for the Club World Cup and can register players in a short window between June 27th and July 3rd, if they make it to the next round. They are aiming to sign Enciso in this window and therefore, are stepping up their efforts.
Transfermarkt values the Brighton player at €22m, but the Primeira Liga club want to sign him for a lower price.
He has over a year left on his contract and has failed to cement his place at The Amex. O Jogo state Enciso’s situation won’t improve at Brighton next season while Porto plan to offer him a leading role.
His versatility allows Porto manager Martin Anselmi to use him in various positions. If the Paraguayan were to join them, he can play regularly and fight for trophies, which seems more difficult with Brighton.
