Two days ago, L’Equipe reported on Everton’s approach to sign Lyon’s Orel Mangala. It was also stated Lyon are willing to sanction a move, a month after signing him on a permanent transfer.
Later that day, journalist Florian Plettenberg stated there’s a verbal agreement for the 26-year-old to join Everton with ‘immediate effect’ on a loan deal. He also said the Toffees will have an option to buy set at €40m.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now claims Mangala is ‘very close’ to joining Everton.
Sean Dyche’s side haven’t closed the deal yet, which has allowed Fiorentina to join the battle. In fact, they have ‘made an attempt’ to sign the midfielder since Everton haven’t got it over the line yet.
The Serie A side are looking to sign at least one new midfielder before Friday night, partly because Sofyan Amrabat is about to leave.
Dinamo Zagreb’s Martin Baturina is their first-choice target and Fiorentina have started contracts to sign the Croatian. In the last few hours, they have added the Everton target’s name to their list.
