Aston Villa and West Ham United continue to be seen as contenders to sign Pedro Gonçalves from Sporting.
Today, Portuguese newspaper A Bola shares a story about Napoli’s interest, as they could go after the Lions’ player to replace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who may leave for Paris Saint Germain.
It’s then said that there are some clubs who’ve been interested in Gonçalves for a while, and that’s where Aston Villa and West Ham come in.
The outlet claims that Villans and Hammers have been monitoring the winger since last season, so they could battle Napoli in the summer.
This situation is only set to bring his price up, though, especially because the 25-year-old is a very important player at Sporting. So they’re set to only let him go in case his €80m release clause is triggered.
Gonçalves, better known in Portugal as Pote, just had another good season with Sporting to help them win the league title. In 2023/24, he had 18 goals and 17 assists.
With Aston Villa and West Ham chasing him for so long, they might find a more difficult scenario to sign him this time.
