Last Tuesday, we relayed news from Germany that Aston Villa and West Ham United are tussling to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus in the winter market.
The midfielder has managed three goals and two assists from 16 games this season and has lost prominence in the past few months.
That hasn’t stopped him from attracting interest from other clubs, including Aston Villa and West Ham.
That’s according to Bild, who mention the Premier League duo in a report that talks about VfB Stuttgart’s interest in the 26-year-old.
It’s claimed they have held talks and the Germany international could be loaned out, with a purchase option. There’s been no concrete negotiations to determine the option to buy fee.
At the weekend, Neuhaus received praise from his coaches and teammates, after his last ditch tackle stopped Jeremie Frimpong from scoring in Gladbach’s 0-0 draw against Bayer Leverkusen.
Mönchengladbach managing director Roland Virkus was asked if the player’s exit is off the table after his impressive performance against Leverkusen.
Responding to that, he said: “Basically, you can’t rule anything out 100% in this business…”
Bild state Virkus made this claim because there are other clubs interested. Lazio and Sevilla are out of the race, while Aston Villa and West Ham are still in the picture.
It’s claimed the two English clubs ‘continue to advertise with millions from the Premier League’, to sign Neuhaus.
Virkus’ comments should give hope to Aston Villa and West Ham, who’ll have to take further steps to sign the player in this window.
