Aston Villa have been in talks with Paris Saint Germain for months over a deal for midfielder Carlos Soler.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the Spaniard will be moving on from the French giants this summer and Aston Villa are ready to welcome him.
The newspaper explains that PSG are set for a busy market this year with Kylian Mbappe departing and the rest of the squad set to be overhauled too.
Manager Luis Enrique has already made it clear he wants to overhaul everything and that means several players are on the chopping block, and Soler is one of them.
And that is on the cards anyway, with the former Valencia man having managed only 993 minutes this season.
Fortunately, he has options and one of them is Aston Villa, who have been in contact with PSG for several months about a potential deal.
Those contacts are now ‘well established’, and the deal is moving forwards but the French side are yet to put a firm value on him. Indeed, they appear to be struggling too, with those in charge finding it hard to work out what they should ask for someone who cost €18m but has barely played in recent months.
It seems they want to be fair to ensure they can get a deal done and not scare off Aston Villa who are keen and have long established contacts to make a move happen.
