Aston Villa in talks with agent to sign Dean Smith target – Other clubs interested

Fanatik claim Aston Villa are the latest club to show an interest in AS Roma owned midfielder Steven Nzonzi, who’s currently on loan at Galatasaray.

The French midfielder is expected to leave Gala this month and wasn’t a part of his team’s mid-winter training camp in Antalya.

According to the Turkish newspaper, Aston Villa are now looking to sign the 31 year old and it’s claimed they’ve held transfer talks with the player’s agent.

Aston Villa’s form in recent weeks has been in decline and they are currently in the bottom three. Club manager Dean Smith has stated they need reinforcements in the January transfer window to avoid relegation, and it seems Nzonzi could be an option for the club.

Despite reports Galatasaray have yet to terminate his loan contract it still looks likely the former France international will leave if other clubs come in for him.

Nzonzi’s contract with AS Roma will expire at the end of June 2022.
