Barcelona’s Ferran Torres has been linked to Aston Villa over the past few years, and those links have returned again.

Recent claims in the UK have stated Unai Emery and Aston Villa director Monchi are keen on signing the forward. They also stated the Premier League club are preparing to make a €50m bid in the summer window.

This has reached the Catalan press, specifically Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo, with the newspaper ruling out his exit.

Hansi Flick has mainly used Torres as a centre forward and also utilised him on the wings, he’s managed 19 goals and seven assists from 49 games this season.

The former Manchester City man’s contract lasts until 2027 and it seems unlikely he will leave the Camp Nou. He feels very comfortable at Barcelona, where Torres is appreciated by his teammates and the coaching staff.

Mundo say the Spain international is expected to be Barca’s striker, along with 36-year-old Robert Lewandowski, next season. This should rule out his exit after this season.

Sport also relay claims made in the UK about Aston Villa said to be making a €50m offer for Torres. They state even if the Villans were to make this high offer, it’s ‘very difficult’ to convince both Barcelona and the player.

Flick is pleased with the attacker’s performances and seems to be counting on him for next season.

To sum it up, Barcelona and Torres aren’t in favour of a transfer, and that makes it difficult for Emery’s side to sign him.
