Aston Villa were among the clubs to show interest in Dani Ceballos before he signed a new deal at Real Madrid on June 23rd.
The midfielder’s contract lasts until 2027 but that hasn’t put off Villa, according to Sport.
Unai Emery signed the midfielder on loan for Arsenal in 2019 and is keen to reunite with him at Aston Villa.
It’s claimed the manager is insisting on having the 27-year-old at Villa Park and has also communicated his thoughts to Aston Villa director Monchi. The Premier League side have the funds to bolster their squad and plan to ‘present a firm offer’ of around €15m to sign the Spain international.
The report adds Emery would like to use his ambitious ‘project’ to convince his compatriot that he’ll have a prominent role at a progressing Aston Villa.
This may be something that’s difficult to achieve at Real Madrid, who have already added Jude Bellingham and Arda Güler to their midfield. Therefore, Sport say Ceballos could leave Los Blancos despite signing a new deal in June.
