Championship sides Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Sheffield Wednesday all reportedly sent scouts to Estádio da Luz last night.

According to A Bola, the officials watched Benfica’s game against Dinamo Kiev for the Champions League group stage, which the home team won 1-0.

With a bunch of chances missed, Benfica’s only goal was scored from the penalty spot by Eduardo Salvio, after the Brazilian defender Luisão was brought down inside the box.

Players such as Ederson, Ljubomir Fejsa, Pizzi Fernandes and Servi also had a good match.

Both Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday had already watched Benfica a short time ago, so it’s likely that they are keeping an eye on someone there. Newcastle’s visit, on the other hand, is really something new.

CapturarSheffield Wednesday have Portuguese connections already but it’s difficult to see which players would be in the club’s price range, and similar would apply to Aston Villa and Newcastle United without immediate promotion from the Championship.

Scouts from Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Sunderland, West Brom, Middlesbrough, Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Celtic, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Celta de Vigo, Barcelona, Sevilla, Osasuna, Villarreal, Monaco, Montpellier and Sassuolo have all attended to the game as well.
