Feyenoord’s Lutsharel Geertruida has ended up on Aston Villa’s radar, according to claims from the Dutch press.
The defender impressed for the Eredivisie side last season, operating mainly as a right-back. He managed nine goals and five assists from 47 games and has less than a year left on his contract.
These factors make the 24-year-old an interesting option for his suitors like Aston Villa this summer.
According to Voetbal International, the Villans have joined RB Leipzig in the race to try and sign the fullback.
The Premier League side have expressed their interest in the Netherlands international, likely through an intermediary, but haven’t yet sent an official offer. He’s patiently waiting for Aston Villa or any other club with ambition to secure his services.
Feyenoord, for their part, seem to be open to sanctioning a sale as this window would be their last summer chance to earn a fee from him. January is a possibility, but a far more difficult market.
Unai Emery has Matty Cash and 18-year-old Kosta Nedeljkovic as the two right-backs at his disposal. Nedeljkovic joined Aston Villa from Red Star Belgrade in January and was sent back on loan to the Serbian club in the same window.
