Rodrigo Bentancur to Aston Villa is a story which has been catching the imagination in the Italian media.

The midfielder wasn’t thought to be one of the players Juventus were looking to part ways with this month, however, Calciomercato make it clear that should the right offer arrive then he can leave.

Aston Villa haven’t yet made an offer of any sort, according to the report, but Steven Gerrard’s side have conducted ‘polls’, which will be making contact to find out the feasibility of a move over the next week.

The 24-year-old has been very highly rated at the Turin club, since he arrived at Juventus in 2017, but he hasn’t yet made the final breakthrough to being a midfielder of the highest quality, and that’s been the situation under several managers.

That’s why a transfer is considered a possibility, if it would bring in the money to allow Juventus to invest elsewhere.

There’s no indication of what Aston Villa would need to offer to get a deal done, just that Bentancur could leave if the ‘right offer’ arrives in the coming days.
