Aston Villa and Leicester City are today linked to Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij.
This information is brought by Italian outlet FC Inter News, who features a story about the player’s contractual situation with the Nerazzurri.
It’s said the talks for a new deal ‘are about to get underway’, even though there are ‘a few situations’ circling the player.
They’re referring to the approaches from Aston Villa and Leicester City, who along with Atletico Madrid, have ‘asked for information’ by getting in touch with his agent Federico Pastorello.
FC Inter News points out De Vrij would be a ‘good shot’ for those clubs, both in terms of ‘quality’ as in ‘experience’.
The defender’s contract with Inter Milan expires at the end of the season, meaning he can just choose to walk to any of those clubs for free.
There’s always a chance someone could show up and pay a fee to guarantee the signing and anticipate his move for the January transfer window, but for now, there’s no information whether Aston Villa or Leicester City would be keen on doing that.
De Vrij is currently at the World Cup with the Netherlands, although he has yet to make an appearance for Louis van Gaal in the competition to date.
