Aston Villa’s interest in a couple of players from Lisbon clubs is mentioned today by newspaper Record.
The outlet features a front page claiming Benfica and Sporting will not be selling any players in the January transfer window, as their footballers are ‘untouchable’ for now.
Many players from those clubs have recently been linked to Premier League sides, and Aston Villa are among those who may be left frustrated in the winter market.
It’s said that Unai Emery’s side have two targets on their ‘agenda’. Those are Sporting’s Pedro Gonçalves and Benfica’s Frederik Aursnes.
Both of them had already been linked with a move to Aston Villa in the summer window, and it seems the chase now continues.
Sporting and Benfica are ready to say ‘no’, though, as they’re prioritising their performance and will delay all their sales for the summer window next year.
Gonçalves and Aursnes are both important for their sides, as the two played in all of their club’s games in the Portuguese league this season so far. The Sporting star is valued by Transfermarkt at €32m, while the Benfica midfielder has an estimated price of €20m.
