Aston Villa are looking at Eyüpspor goalkeeper Berke Özer for next season, according to DHA in Turkey.

The 24-year joined the Turkish club from Portimonense in January 2023 and has been the first-choice since last season.

He kept 11 clean sheets and conceded 30 goals from 29 games this season and attracted Aston Villa’s attention.

The Villans are to continue to follow Özer until the end of the season and then expected to ‘sit at the table’ with Eyüpspor for negotiations.

DHA add Aston Villa are ‘preparing to make an offer’ but provide no updates on the fee they are willing to propose or the Süper Lig side’s request.

Özer’s contract expires in June, with an option for another year. Taking this into account, it shouldn’t cost the Premier League club a lot to secure his services.

According to the report, the goalkeeper is ‘keen on playing’ for the English club. They also relay claims from Germany about RB Leipzig’s interest in the player.

Emiliano Martínez is the first-choice stopper at Villa Park, with Robin Olsen as his deputy. Olsen could leave Aston Villa when his contract runs down in June and Özer would therefore take his place in the Villans squad next season.
