Two days ago, Sport reported Arsenal have ‘already contacted’ Philippe Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian.
On May 27th, we covered claims from Le10 Sport, who explained the first contact between the Gunners and the Barcelona player’s representative took place at the end of 2019.
The north London club also get a mention in today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo.
It’s claimed the Premier League club’s effort for the 27-year-old has started ‘taking shape’ in the ‘past few days’. There’s belief that he would be the right fit under Mikel Arteta.
Coutinho, who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, arrived at the Camp Nou from Liverpool in January 2018. Raul Sanllehi was the director of football at the Catalan club and he had then negotiated the Brazil international’s transfer.
Sanllehi is now at Arsenal as their head of football and Mundo adds he has been tasked with handling the negotiations.
Barca are aware it’s difficult for any suitor to meet the South American’s current valuation of €100m.
Therefore, they have not closed the option of the playmaker going out on another loan spell. A temporary deal will only be considered with a purchase option and if the club signing Coutinho takes care of his salary.
