Earlier today, Calciomercato reported Arsenal are the main contender for Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee.
TuttoMercatoWeb have backed it up and they state Arsenal are ‘first and foremost’ in the chase for the striker.
He scored his ninth league goal in the Serie A side’s 2-1 win over Lazio at the weekend. His deal lasts until 2026 and he’s currently valued at €30m.
TMW state the Dutchman has a €40m clause valid only to his former club, Bayern Munich. Others clubs have to negotiate a deal with Bologna, who value him between €50m and €60m.
AC Milan are one of the Italian clubs following the frontman. There are several Premier League sides ready to make an offer, according to the report, but only Arsenal are mentioned.
Mikel Arteta’s side are said to have an ‘excellent relationship’ with the player’s representatives and this could help in a potential deal.
There’s been regular claims in Italy about Arsenal’s interest in Zirkzee, but it isn’t backed up concretely in the UK yet.
It feels like the Italian media, probably on behalf of Bologna and/or intermediaries, are trying to create a perception of a transfer war between several clubs.
