Arsenal have set their sights on Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, according to claims from Spain.

The Ukraine international’s future needs to be resolved as his contract expires in 2025. Thibaut Courtois’ absence due to a serious injury allowed the 25-year-old to feature regularly in the recently concluded season.

Cope say Real Madrid have offered Lunin a deal until 2029, while he’s thinking about his future after receiving offers from other interesting clubs. Only Arsenal are mentioned.

The stopper feels Carlo Ancelotti doesn’t trust him completely and that may be a concern for him to commit his future to the La Liga winners.

Friday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo relays Cope’s claim about Arsenal and then gives their own take on his case.

Prior to the Champions League final, Ancelotti made it clear that Courtois will be his first-choice goalkeeper, and Mundo say this didn’t please Lunin’s entourage.

The report says the Ukrainian and his camp don’t seem to favour staying at Real Madrid in the long term, and when discussing interested parties, Arsenal are mentioned.

After relaying Cope’s claim, Mundo state the Gunners are following Lunin’s situation very closely. They add that Mikel Arteta’s side will ‘try to sign’ Lunin if ‘he’s within reach’.

Ancelotti’s decision to bet on Courtois could see Lunin consider leave Real Madrid in the summer window, and this would please Arsenal.
