Arsenal target Johan Bakayoko has made it clear he would welcome a bid from the Gunners this summer, as he’s aiming high if he is to leave PSV Eindhoven.
The winger has been speaking to Voetbal International about his lofty ambitions after an impressive season for the Dutch champions.
The Belgian is considered one of the rising stars in Europe and demonstrated that last season with a tally of 14 goals and 14 assists in 48 games in all competitions.
That’s put him on the radar for several teams but namely Arsenal, who have been credited with an interest in months.
A report at the end off last month indicated that, of all the potential clubs, they were showing the most concrete interest in him. Any move, though, had to be delayed until he was finished at Euro 2024 with Belgium.
So far nothing has progressed on that front, though, with Arsenal’s only incoming deal the confirmation of David Raya’s loan from Brentford being made permanent.
They appear to be focusing their efforts elsewhere, namely on Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori, but it seems Bakayoko wants to make it clear he’s waiting and eager on such a transfer.
“I want to go to a club that can go as far as possible in the Champions League. A club that plays for the title every season and where I can improve every year,” he said.
“I exclude a lot of clubs. My ambitions are high and not with the clubs in the middle bracket. I am doing well here, so I will only exchange PSV for a club that plays for prizes.
“It could be a good moment to make a transfer now, but that could also be the case next year. For example, if we have become champions again or have gone far in the Champions League.”
