Portuguese outlet Record today shares an update on Cedric Soares’ situation at Arsenal.
As the fullback was expected to leave the Gunners in the winter transfer market, the outlet shows up to say it’s ‘nearly impossible’ for him to be heading to Turkey, where they have their window is closing tonight.
Record explains that Galatasaray, who had been negotiating for Soares, signed Serge Aurier instead, and Besiktas, who also showed interest in the Arsenal player, ‘never advanced’ in the talks.
It’s said that both the Gunners and the Portuguese player had considered his departure now, but he’s now set to stay and try to find for a place in Mikel Arteta’s side.
Soares’ contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the season, and that’s when he’s actually expected to leave the London side, this time on a free transfer.
Arteta has been giving the 32-year-old nearly no chances to play this season, as he has only participated in a couple of matches, none of them in the Premier League.
So with an exit now ruled out, the next few months could get quite distressing for the player, who will have to be extra patient.
