Arsenal haven’t lost to Chelsea when William Saliba has featured, and this record obviously pleases the France international.

The 24-year-old is with his national team preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Iceland this month.

France lost the 2022 World Cup final to Argentina and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández was part of La Albiceleste squad.

Saliba spoke at a press conference today and RMC Sport have relayed his comments. The centre-back made a bold statement by saying the World Cup winners and Spain, who won 2024 Euros, don’t scare Les Bleus.

Although the Arsenal star wasn’t part of the France squad during the last World Cup, he seems to have revenge on his mind.

The former Saint-Étienne man explained he feels he’s already taken a little revenge for France when the Gunners beat Chelsea. That’s due to Enzo Fernández, who joined the Blues from Benfica in January 2023, a month after his country’s success in Qatar.

The 24-year-old midfielder faced Arsenal five times and Chelsea lost three and drew the other two.

“So far, I haven’t lost to Enzo Fernández with Chelsea. So, yes, I’ve had revenge with Arsenal over Chelsea,” he said.

“When a team beats you, the only thing you want is to play them again. And if we do things well and qualify, I think we’ll have a way to get our revenge.”

“That’s not what we want, to go to the World Cup to necessarily get our revenge, we just want to win. But if we come up against them [Argentina], of course we’ll be happy to get our revenge.”

Mikel Arteta’s side face Chelsea in the league at the end of November. Saliba will have an opportunity to extend his record over the Club World Cup winners.
