Negotiations between Arsenal and Sevilla for Albert Sambi Lokonga are advancing and should see the midfielder head to Spain this season.
That’s according to AS and ABC Sevilla, who both report that the two sides are close to an agreement for the Belgian midfielder.
AS report that Lokonga will become Sevilla’s second signing of the summer, with negotiations between them and Arsenal accelerating to a point that an agreement is now inevitable.
Lokonga was a long-term target for the club and will arrive on loan, with Sevilla’s finances ensuring that a permanent deal was not possible.
ABC Sevilla back this up, reporting that Lokonga has already given his approval to Sevilla and will make the switch from Arsenal this summer.
The deal between Sevilla and Arsenal is practically closed and the obstacle of the purchase option, which the Gunners had wanted to be mandatory, has been overcome.
According to the newspaper’s information Sevilla would be open to making the clause mandatory if certain objectives are met next season. It seems they’ve now worked that out with Arsenal so a €15m clause will be included, although the nature of the objectives isn’t mentioned.
Either way, Lokonga appears set for his third straight loan move away from the Emirates and will be hoping this one proves to be the lucky one.
