Arsenal may move to snatch the chance to sign 17-year-old Sverre Nypan away from Manchester United, as the race for the potential next Martin Odegaard heats up.
That’s according to Fussball News, who report that the highly rated youngster has both Premier League clubs interested in him.
They explain that Nypan has come to the fore again for Rosenborg BK in recent weeks, with five goals and six assists to his name in 19 league games. He was recently the star of the show in the win over Lillestrøm with a hat-trick.
Manchester United have long been looking at him, with their interest first reported back in April. They’re not following him as intensively as they once were, though, and Arsenal could now get in their way.
According to Fussball News’ information, Arsenal want to put themselves into the poker for the player. They believe he could enjoy a similar development to Martin Odegaard’s.
They’re trying to entice the player with that prospect and want to hold talks with Rosenborg at the end of the transfer window.
Manchester United still have their foot in the door and remain appealing to the player thanks to club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. In fact, the player and his father are big fans of the club.
Nypan has already stated publicly that it would be a dream come true to play for them, but Arsenal could now step in to stop that happening.
