Fábio Vieira is set to leave Arsenal and return to former Porto on loan before the end of the transfer window.
That’s according to Record, who report that the midfielder is ‘on his way’ to Porto from the Emirates.
The newspaper states that, according to information obtained by them, the Portuguese under 21 international is ‘preparing to return’ to the Estádio do Dragão on loan from Arsenal.
Record offer no information on details of the loan deal, so there’s no indication whether it will include an option to make it permanent, just that it will happen.
Their information echoes reports coming out of England, where Vieira has also been linked with a move back to Porto.
His exit appears to be as a result of Arsenal’s move for Mikel Merino, with the Spaniard already in London to undergo a medical with the Gunners.
Arsenal struck a deal with Real Sociedad this week after weeks of negotiations for the Spanish midfielder and a deal is expected to be completed soon. If he arrives as expected, that would push Vieira down the pecking order in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
That’s appears to have led to Porto making their move and they’re now close to securing him on loan.
