If there’s one player Arsenal fans have been wanting to sign this summer, then that man is Houssem Aouar.
The Lyon midfielder has impressed clubs around Europe with his performances in France, and there’s been repeat claims of interest from Juventus. There doesn’t look to be anything seriously happening from the Turin club, which can only be good news for Arsenal.
Now Telefoot Chaine report the Gunners are set to make a ‘concrete offer’ for the player. The bid will be made ‘soon’ and is expected to be in excess of €40m.
According to the claims, Aouar is Mikel Arteta’s priority signing this summer, so the club are trying to please their manager.
There’s no indication whether Lyon will accept the Arsenal offer, but it’s likely they’ll try to start an auction if that’s at all possible. Jean-Michel Aulas, the French club’s president, has a record of using every trick he can to try and drive transfer fees up.
That may be more difficult this summer, given it’s well known Lyon to bring funds in.
