Earlier this month, Arsenal emerged as candidates to land AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.
Gianluigi Longari reported the Gunners are not frightened by the Portuguese’s lofty price-tag and a potential fee can approach the three-figure mark in the summer. There was also a suggestion that brief contact was made by Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta.
Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo has provided an update about the winger, who didn’t play a single minute of Milan’s last game of the season against Monza.
That could be a sad ending to his career at the Rossoneri, amidst a rising fear that Leao’s time at Milan could now be up.
The report states Arsenal first made contact for the Portugal international ten days ago and Berta is behind the move, but Longo believes Leao is not the top target for the London club.
He is only ‘one of the alternatives’ and Mikel Arteta’s side are expected to face major competition. Chelsea are interested and so are clubs in the Middle East.
The 25-year-old’s current contract at the San Siro runs out in the summer of 2028 and he has a release clause which exceeds €100m.
