Arsenal’s interest in Porto winger Pepê is back to being backed up by the Portuguese media today.
This time it’s newspaper A Bola who features a story about the 26-year-old and talks about the chances of a summer move.
There, they claim ‘there have been approaches’ from England, and that’s where Arsenal are named as one of the interested clubs, although there’s a chase from Spain and France as well.
That’s why Porto are expected to have ‘difficulties’ to keep the player in the summer, even though they have already set a price for his departure. That’s the one in his release clause, which stands at €75m.
A Bola points out that the Dragons’ financial chief Fernando Gomes has already claimed the club will need to make €50m with sales this summer, and Pepê seems to be the player who gives them the biggest possibility of putting that money together.
Now it’s up for Arsenal and the other interested clubs to pay that amount, unless they’ll be more patient and try to negotiate with the Portuguese club.
The Gunners’ interest in Pepê had already many times been reported by the Brazilian media as well.
