Wednesday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports Arsenal are pressing to sign Ismael Bennacer, a midfielder who left the London club in 2017.
The 24-year-old is a regular for AC Milan, and has made 21 appearances so far this season. He played a part in the Rossoneri’s Serie A triumph during the last campaign, and is a player they’ll want to stick around.
However, Milan’s problem is that Bennacer’s contract expires in June 2024, meaning his price will start dropping soon.
Gazzetta report Arsenal and Chelsea have both made initial contact, making surveys… potentially to find out if the player would want a move.
This all comes amid Milan’s efforts to get a contract renewal, so there’s the possibility Arsenal and others will be used to try and pressure the Italian club into offering higher wages than they otherwise would have.
Bennacer is represented by Enzo Raiola, who is helping to run the Mino Raiola empire after the super-agent died earlier this year.
