Lazio have likely missed their chance to get the peak value for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. For years, the midfielder has been linked with a big move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Manchester United the clubs most mentioned, and estimates had been put at around €100m.

Given the 28-year-old’s contract expires in June 2024, such figures are now simply unrealistic. TMW’s senior journalist Niccolo Ceccarini has published his weekly transfer update, and he covers the player’s future.

Milinkovic-Savic scored for Lazio in a 2-1 victory over Juventus on Saturday, and that means he’s again in the news. Ceccarini explains there’s Premier League interest, where Arsenal are the ‘most determined club’ when it comes to his signing.

Lazio are trying to get themselves a renewal but there’s no advance in that respect, so a sale in the summer is looking increasingly possible.

In all truth, Milinkovic-Savic is probably unfortunate not to have got a big move earlier, so would deserve something like a transfer to Arsenal.

Unless there’s a surprise and Lazio get a renewal sorted out before the summer, if looks like there’s a deal there to be done for Arsenal should Mikel Arteta give the green light.
