Over the past week or so, suggestions have appeared in Italy regarding Arsenal interest in Lautaro Martinez.

The 23-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the last summer window, but the Blaugrana weren’t able to put a package together to sign the Inter Milan player.

Since then the rumours haven’t been so strong, with the occasional mention of interest from the Premier League or La Liga.

The latest Arsenal claims have changed that a little, with it first being stated in Italy that Martinez had come up during talks over Hector Bellerin moving to Inter.

Then there were claims that Martinez just doesn’t fancy a move to the Premier League club, and has high hopes for the level of side he can attract when it comes to leaving the Serie A side.

Sunday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport insists Arsenal’s attempt for the signing has been genuine. The Italian newspaper says the London club offered an exchange with Alexandre Lacazette, to which Inter gave ‘a blunt no’.

Inter value the Argentine at ‘no less than €80m’, but would consider a player as part of that amount.

Gazzetta don’t give any slant on what Martinez thinks.

The same report also covers Arsenal’s softened stance on Hector Bellerin, with it stated the Gunners have decided to allow him to leave on loan.
