Cristian Romero’s transfer from Atalanta to Tottenham Hotspur is nearly done, according to the latest reports from Argentina.
Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reports on his Instagram that the Serie A side have just accepted the final offer from Spurs.
It’s claimed that the defender is moving in a €50m deal, with a potential €5m in performance bonuses.
The reporter claims that the lawyers should now start working on the contracts, and ‘the idea’ is for Romero to land in London in the coming days. The defender is expected to sign a five-year deal with the club.
Romero belonged to Juventus and excelled last season during a loan spell at Atalanta, who used their buying option over him and now secure an immediate profit by selling the player.
He also featured in Argentina’s Copa America campaign, having started in the 1-0 win against Brazil in the final at the Maracanã Stadium.
At the age of 23, he promises to be one of the great young talents from his country.
