Over the past few days, AC Milan have abandoned the chase of Fabio Paratici, who has been acting as a Tottenham Hotspur advisor, rather than the club’s sporting director, since he was banned from official roles.

This led to Corriere dello Sport’s Ivan Zazzaroni indicating that there is a conspiracy at play, without specifically implying what really happened after the move to Milan seemed close for the Italian at one point.

The journalist has now spoken further about what transpired and while expressing anger, he stated that some pressure has been applied to make sure Paratici didn’t move to Milan.

He told Canale 5, as relayed by Calciomercato: “Paratici’s contract at Milan was ready, Paratici has the contract in his hand. There was pressure, very strong, it even reached the federal level, I say this very clearly.”

He also confidently claimed that all this will make sure that the ex-Tottenham director will never return to Italy.

He stated: “Paratici must not return to Italy and I would like to understand why, beyond the fact that he has certainly made mistakes, he has certainly been punished and his disqualification certainly ends on July 20.

“If someone who has been disqualified, once the disqualification is over, can no longer work in Italy, just say so. Add a note to the law and say that, if someone is disqualified in Italy, he can no longer return.”

Zazzaroni also theorised multiple calls were made from higher positions to make sure Paratici didn’t join the Rossoneri.

“There was more than a few phone calls to apply pressure. He can’t participate in the life of the club, but the consultant can. They’ve been negotiating for months.”

There is clearly quite a bit of anger about the entire scenario and that is understandable, considering how the deal seemed done at one point and it hasn’t gone through due to reasons that have not been revealed.

There have been suggestions that a lot of it is down to Milan and the power dynamics involving advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

On top of that, Tottenham CEO Daniel Levy has already tried to bring the Italian back to the club in the last few days, with Paratici informally operating as a consultant for the Lilywhites.

It remains to be seen if Spurs have had a role to play in all of this.
