Sporting director Tim Steidten has confirmed he has offers from the Premier League, as Tottenham Hotspur are linked with a move for him this summer.
The 44-year-old has been speaking to DeichStube in Germany about a potential move to England this summer as he looks to get back into the game following his spell at Bayer Leverkusen.
Steidten is highly thought of in his homeland, considered something of a pearl finder for his ability to identify talent for his clubs.
This is something he has done successfully at both Werder Bremen, where he went from a youth scout to head of scouting, then sporting director and director of football in the space of nine years.
He enjoyed a similar rise in a shorter period at Bayer Leverkusen, where he joined as head of scouting in 2019 before moving up to the sports coordinator job in 2022 before leaving in March this year.
His work in Germany hasn’t gone unnoticed and after reports of interest and offers from Chelsea and Newcastle over the last year, Tottenham have now been linked with a move for him.
A report in England this week stated Tottenham had Steidten in their top three candidates as they look to replace Fabio Paratici, who left after being banned by FIFA. Steidten has now confirmed he has offers and would be keen, although he refused to name Spurs directly.
“Germany and England are definitely the two leagues that interest me the most,” he said.
“There are already offers, including from the Premier League. Honestly there’s not that many clubs in the Bundesliga that appeal to me and where I am needed right now.”
