Arriving at Liverpool for €60m, Naby Keïta’s time with the Reds has been disappointing to put it mildly.
The Guinea international was signed after some great performances for RB Leipzig, but injuries have stopped him from repeating them at Anfield.
He is now set to be released on a free by Liverpool, which has caught the attention of a lot of clubs around Europe, including some in Italy.
One of those happen to be Inter, who are always on the lookout for a good deal, and a report from Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Serie A side are ‘thinking about’ moving for the player.
Keita himself is ‘looking around and his entourage have already noted’ a number of interested sides, including Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
As for Inter, they are currently ‘waiting to understand’ which of their players will be sold before June 30th to bring in some money, with the likes of Denzel Dumfries and Marcelo Brozovic potential casualties.
Either way, one or two players will arrive at San Siro in the next transfer window, and it’s made clear that someone like the Liverpool midfielder ‘would be a big hit’ for the Italians.
His experience would be invaluable to the squad, and his ability to play different roles in midfield would also be ‘very useful’.
While they are also interested in Franck Kessié, the Ivory Coast would not be free, unlike Keita, and Gazzetta state ‘there have already been contacts with the midfielder’s entourage’.
It’s pointed out the Liverpool man is currently on around €7m a season at Anfield, but he could lower those demands because he knows he didn’t have the best time with the Reds and ‘needs new motivation to relaunch himself’.
Inter, down their end, ‘are ready to trust him’, just like Borussia Dortmund, who will almost certainly be in need of a Jude Bellingham replacement at some point in the summer.
