Alexandru Maxim’s agent has ruled out a move to Mexico for the attacking midfielder. The Stuttgart player has been linked with a transfer to Club America in recent days, following his links with Leeds United.
In an interview with Bild, Herbert Briem was asked about the interest from Club America and whether his client would be heading to Mexico. Briem said top players don’t move to Mexico because the objective for most is to play in Europe.
Maxim’s agent also confirmed as it stands there are no clubs the player can be transferred to because they will only consider a move to a major league.
“Players who want to improve are moving from Mexico to Europe, and not the other way around. Alex looks the same. Currently there is no transfer available. That would be only an option if the offer comes from a top league,” said the player’s agent.
Briem recently revealed he held talks with Leeds United over the possibility of the English side signing Maxim. The Romania international looks surplus to requirements at Stuttgart, and could look to leave the German side if the situation doesn’t improve.
Despite Leeds United currently being in the Championship they have a realistic chance of getting promotion to the Premier League this season, and a move to the Elland Road club is likely to seem more desirable to Maxim.
