Spanish outlet Marca today brings interesting news for Aston Villa fans.
According to their report, Mateu Alemany and Unai Emery are interested in Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio.
Marca claim Aston Villa are planning to make three or four signings in the summer window, and the Spaniard is ‘one of the first’ names they’ll put on the club owners’ table.
The report claims Asensio’s priority is to renew his contract with Real Madrid. However, with just a couple of months left before it expires, that deal wasn’t signed yet.
That’s why Aston Villa currently have an opportunity to sign him for free, with Marca claiming the Premier League club can offer him a salary worth around €8m, which is twice what he makes at the La Liga giants.
Alemany, who’s on his way to Villa Park, already tried that signing at Barcelona, and is fully aware of the 27-year-old’s situation at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Playing for Real Madrid this season, Asensio has 11 goals and eight assists in 46 appearances.
Marca says the talks between club and player for a renewal are close to a common-ground. But it’s also claimed money isn’t a problem for Aston Villa, so maybe that’s an advantage.
The Spanish newspaper explains Alemany would present an exciting sporting project to Asensio, as well as the big financial package, and the player would be part of Emery’s plan to fight for Champions League football.
