Chelsea could be set for another arrival from Racing Strasbourg, with Danish defender Lucas Høgsberg on their radar.
442.com report, in an exclusive, that the 20-year-old is on shortlists at Arsenal, Newcastle United and Chelsea thanks to his performances in France.
In fact, the outlet reports that Chelsea have been monitoring the defender’s progress for ‘quite some time’.
€35m asking price
Strasbourg are not interested in a sale at this moment in time. The centre-back only joined them in a €15m deal last summer and remains a key part of their plans.
They also have him tied to a deal until 2030, so there is no pressure to sell. Ideally, he would remain with them for the time being.
However, the French club are open to talks should an offer in the region of pen to talks should an offer in the region of 35m arrive. They’re aware that Lucas Høgsberg represents one of the ‘most sought-after’ defensive profiles in modern football.
His ability to play centre-back, as well as in both full-backs makes him valuable. He’s also excellent in ‘build-up play qualities’ and ‘operates at a high technical level’. International scouts have also been let impressed by his positional play.
Arsenal consider bid
Arsenal are, reportedly, ‘considering making a bid’. Newcastle also view the defender as the perfect fit for their defence.
They are also aiming to strengthen before the transfer window closes. And have decided to reset their project by focusing on youth. So, Lucas Høgsberg fits the bill.
Chelsea are operating more in the background but remain cautious. They obviously have an advantage given their relationship with Strasbourg. They could make a move if none of their rivals snap him up first.
The player, for his part, is open to a move to England. That means contract terms should not be an issue with suited parties. His representatives are already in contact with Arsenal and Newcastle about a move.
